Here's your step-by-step guide to throwing a cutter:
Start with the right grip: Grip the ball with your index and middle fingers along the seams and your thumb under the ball for support.
Find the right speed: A cutter should be thrown with a little more velocity than a curveball but slower than a fastball.
Practice your release: To create the late-breaking movement, you'll want to apply pressure to the outside of the ball with your index finger as you release it.
Experiment with arm angle: Try throwing cutters from different arm angles to see what works best for you.
Get comfortable: Throwing a cutter is all about comfort and repetition. The more you throw it, the better you'll become.
How to Throw a Devastating Cutter
So, are you ready to dominate the mound? Then grab a ball and get to work on perfecting your cutter. This pitch is sure to be a game-changer and will have hitters swinging and missing in no time.
In conclusion, the cutter is a valuable pitch to add to any pitcher's arsenal. With a little bit of practice and experimentation, you'll be throwing devastating cutters in no time. So, grab a ball and get to work! Happy pitching!
]]>The knuckleball is a unique pitch that can be a real asset to a pitcher's arsenal. It has a slow, fluttering movement that makes it difficult for hitters to pick up. Ready to learn how to throw one? Here's your step-by-step guide to throwing a knuckleball.
Start with the right grip: To throw a knuckleball, you'll want to grip the ball with your fingertips, without using your palm. This will allow the ball to move without spin.
Find the right speed: A knuckleball should be thrown with a slow, floating motion. It should not be thrown as hard as a fastball.
Practice your release: When releasing the ball, use a relaxed motion and let the ball "slip" out of your hand. Do not put any spin on the ball.
Experiment with arm angle: The knuckleball can be thrown from different arm angles, so try them all out to see what works best for you.
Practice makes perfect: As with any pitch, the key to throwing a successful knuckleball is practice. It takes time and patience to master this pitch, so keep at it.
Now that you know the basics, it's time to hit the field and give it a try. Just remember to keep it relaxed and let the ball do the work. You'll have your friends and opponents guessing in no time!
In conclusion, the knuckleball is a fun and tricky pitch to add to your repertoire. With a little bit of practice, you'll have hitters scratching their heads in no time. So, grab a ball and get to work! Happy pitching!
]]>Here's your ultimate guide to baseball pitch grips:
Four-Seam Fastball: This is the most basic pitch grip and one that every pitcher should have in their arsenal. Hold the ball with your index and middle fingers along the seams and your thumb under the ball for support.
Two-Seam Fastball: This grip involves holding the ball with your index and middle fingers along the narrow seams, with your thumb underneath. This pitch will move more than a four-seam fastball, making it harder for hitters to pick up.
Changeup: To throw a changeup, place your index and middle fingers on the seams, with your thumb underneath. This pitch will have a slower speed and more movement than a fastball, keeping hitters guessing.
Curveball: This pitch involves placing your index and middle fingers on top of the ball, with your thumb underneath. Snap your wrist to release the ball and create the downward spin that will result in a curveball.
Slider: A slider is thrown like a fastball, but the pitcher should rotate their wrist slightly to create a side-to-side movement.
Knuckleball: The knuckleball is thrown with the fingertips, with no spin on the ball. This pitch is highly dependent on the pitcher's ability to control their grip and release.
Now that you have the basic grips down, it's time to practice, practice, practice! Remember, a pitcher's grip is a personal preference, so don't be afraid to experiment to find what works best for you. And have fun out there, ace!
In conclusion, mastering your pitch grips can greatly enhance your game and keep hitters off balance. Incorporate these grips into your practice routine and have fun experimenting to find what works best for you. Happy pitching!

Timing is key: Timing is critical for a baseball hitter. A complete baseball hitter has the ability to recognize a pitch, anticipate its movement and get their swing off at the right time.

Both options have quality nets that come pre-hung so you just have to inflate and go! The patented Inflatable Backstops have commercial grade PVC Tarpaulin shells for indoor or outdoor use. There are many perks to building your better batting practice in this way, convenience and performance being some of them. ]]>Before we dive into the perks these cages provide for baseball and golf, let’s take a closer look at what exactly the cages are. Whether you are planning on hitting home runs, or driving the golf ball far down the green, the 20 foot length of these inflatable cages should give you plenty of space. If for some reason you need more room to practice, you can connect multiple cages together to create the length of your choosing. They are 17 feet wide and 12 feet high, so there’s no cramping your swing style.
In addition to being customizable in length, these cages are extremely convenient. Since they are inflatable, there are no metal or pvc pipes to worry about transporting and setting up. Use the included pump to inflate within 10 minutes and easily move to wherever you feel like practicing. Unlike heavy metal cages, you don’t need a whole team of players to set these up, move them around, and tear them down. This convenience allows you to utilize these cages at your own home as well!
Not only are these cages versatile, convenient, and portable, they are made with high-quality materials and designed to be extremely durable. Whatever sport you plan on practicing in them, they are made to withstand the test of time. We utilize American-made netting and heat-seal them so no continual blowing air is required. Whether it is just you getting some practice in at home, or you plan on using this inflatable cage for multiple people or an entire team, you can expect it to last for a long time.
Now that we’ve gone over just how awesome these inflatable cages are, we can talk about how you can use them for your baseball practice! While it’s pretty self-explanatory that all you need to do is set up the cage and start swinging, we have compiled a couple of tips to take your batting skills to the next level and make the most of your batting practice time. First, adjust where you are aiming. Home runs are created with a combination of lift and distance. To cultivate this in your swing, do not get in the habit of aiming for the back of the cage, but instead for the top of it. This will help you develop the lift that is needed to carry the ball a further distance in real-world scenarios.
Another thing to keep in mind is your form. Just because you are hitting a couple of pitches in a cage, does not mean you should take shortcuts with your stance or your swing. Doing so can create a bad habit that is hard to shake once you actually step up to home plate. It can also result in injuring yourself since you are not taking the same care and precautions that you typically do.
As we mentioned previously, our inflatable cages are not only good for baseball, they’re great for golf! We know that packing up and heading to a golf course every time you want to practice your swing isn’t always feasible. Having a practice facility in your own yard in the form of an inflatable cage cuts down on your commute time, giving you the ability to practice whenever you have a few minutes free. The Inflatable Golf Driving Range by Rude American offers golfers a quality driving net that can be used outdoors or inside as an indoor golf range. This is the perfect solution for individual golfers and organizations who are looking for an alternative to country clubs and traditional driving ranges. This is a convenient and cost effective way to practice driving golf balls in a limited space. Not everyone has the time to visit a golf course or a driving range on a daily basis. These may be inaccessible or just too crowded. Instead, we’ve created a solution for driving golf balls from the comfort of your backyard or anywhere for that matter.

]]>Christian Vázquez Red Sox Catcher's baseball career started in 2008, when he was selected by the Boston Red Sox in the ninth round of the draft. However, he did not make his MLB debut until July 2014. Shortly after his debut, in September, he hit his first MLB home run. Unfortunately, he missed the entire 2015 season due to a surgery, however he came back with a force in 2016, playing in 57 MLB games and 42 Triple-A games.

]]>If you are unfamiliar with Dee Gordon of Mariners and his history as a baseball player, let’s get you caught up. Dee began his MLB career in 2011 as a shortstop and second baseman with the Los Angeles Dodgers.
In 2015, he started with the Miami Marlins as a second baseman, where he stood out as a player, with a .333 BA, 205 total hits, and 58 stolen bases. He led the NL in all three of those categories, becoming the first player to lead in both batting average and stolen bases since the legendary Jackie Robinson. Throughout the 2010s, Dee Gordon stole a total of 330 bases, the most of any MLB player.
In 2017, he started with the Seattle Mariners. When he was traded to the Mariners, his position was switched from second base to center field, until a teammate’s suspension brought him back to second base. As a center fielder, his speed allowed him to set up closer than the average fielder. In addition, in the past year, he had the fastest average time from home plate to first base of all MLB second basemen. It’s obvious that Dee Gordon isn’t slowing down anytime soon. ]]>Given that most batting cages range from 40 feet to 80 feet, aiming for the back of the cage only guarantees that the ball will travel as far as that, even without the netting in the way. Consider the distance to second base from home plate, which is 127 feet. If you are batting in a cage that is only 40 feet long and are consistently aiming for the back of the net, the ball is only traveling a third of the distance to second base. Even if you double the length of your batting cage, you still are not making it the whole distance to second if you don’t adjust your aim. With no adjustments made, fielders will easily stop the majority of all balls hit this way.
When practicing on the field, we seem to remember that in order to get baseballs to travel further off of the bats, one must aim slightly higher. This launches the ball upwards, over most infield players and out into the outfield, if not over the fence. However, for some reason, we seem to forget this piece of advice when batting practice is moved inside the cages. If most practice occurs in cages and not in the field, and the aim is at the back of the cage, during game play, there will not be much hitting success, as the baseball likely will not make it past the first line of defense.
Though field practice may be ideal for learning how to hit in real world scenarios, sometimes it is just not practical or possible. In those circumstances, batting cages are perfect ways to get that extra swing time in. When practicing in a cage, instead of aiming for the back as commonly done, aim for the top of the cage. Depending on the length of the cage you are practicing in, the spot on the top netting that you are aiming for will vary, but getting into practice of swinging upward and outward instead of directly driving to the back of the net will greatly benefit your batting record.
Now that you know how to practice batting perfectly within a batting cage, check out the options we have for inflatable cages. They are easy up, easy down, and can be used inside and out. See what we have to offer here.

]]>Practicing and improving your batting stance will help you further your baseball career for many reasons. There are numerous benefits that come from perfecting your own baseball stance.
When you practice a proper batting stance, you can actually improve the lifespan of your baseball bat and other equipment. If you are constantly hitting incorrectly, your bat may become susceptible to denting, breaking, or sustaining other damages. If you correct your form and are hitting baseballs the proper way, you can lower the risk of causing unnecessary damage to your baseball bat, thus lengthening the amount of time that you can use it for.
Just like with your equipment, using your body in the wrong way can cause damages. Swinging consistently with an incorrect batting stance can cause unnecessary injuries to yourself. You can end up with pulled, strained or torn muscles, or even potentially permanent injuries. Such injuries can impede your ability to play baseball, and may even affect your sports career.
Practicing the correct batting stance can also affect the quality of your swings and improve your game as a whole. By standing and swinging properly, you will be maximizing your momentum and hitting the ball in the sweet spot, making the most of every single swing.
There are a few varying answers to this, and each individual will have their own certain tweaks to make, but in general, the front foot is planted slightly forward, and the back elbow is angled up. There are several resources around the internet that show examples of how this looks in action. The most important thing is to pick a stance that you are comfortable in, that has minimal strain on your body, and prevents excess swing fatigue.
When you have the right stance down, you want to make sure you are also working with the right equipment. Check out our 2020 lineup for the best bats on the market and take your game to the next level.

]]>Just before game time, players start to show up, pairing off and playing catch casually as they wait for further direction. Once everyone has arrived, you run some drills with fly balls and grounders. Not much intensive practice takes place, because after all, you are focused on simply warming up before the game starts. Does your pregame warmup routine look something like this? If so, it may be time to change it up.
While simply warming up the muscles pre-game is a good goal, the ultimate purpose of a warmup is to prepare for the game itself. In game scenarios, casually tossing the baseball back and forth does not happen. The majority of the game is spent pitching and hitting, therefore, more time during practice should be spent on perfecting these skills as well. In addition, actual fielding scenarios should be portrayed, to provide the opportunity to practice these skills.
You may say that playing catch achieves both fielding and pitching practice, however, that is not the case. Catch is often tremendously more casual, with not a lot of proper form, and no testing of quick reflexes that will be necessary to exercise within a live game. During a game of catch, players hardly make the effort to move in front of balls they are catching, tending to stand still and let an outstretched arm do all the work. This doesn’t allow for the entire body to be involved, and is not how these catches would be performed while the game is in play.
Similarly to how playing catch is not an actual in-game scenario, when fly balls and grounders are practiced, the skills being honed are not the ones being utilized when pop ups and ground balls occur when the game is in play. These drills in warmups rarely include the judging of distance, body reposition, and long throws that are required in real world scenarios.
Making minor adjustments in your pregame warmup could drastically benefit your team’s performance overall. The first step in taking your game to the next level is spending more time practicing batting. Being able to eye whether a ball is within the strike zone, take aim, and hit it where you want it to go, all takes tremendous practice and needs more devotion of time than simply throwing some baseballs back and forth. Set up multiple stations for different varieties of hitting and have each player get a few swings in at every one.
In addition to more time spent hitting, there should be more time spent throwing. No, we aren’t talking about the back and forth, lack of form kind of throwing that occurs in playing catch. We are referring to warming up throwing-arm-specific muscles, throwing in different shapes as opposed to a straight line between two people, and switching up positions they are throwing from. Practicing quick transfer and quick release will be beneficial in game play as well.
Though not every one of these problems or solutions may apply to your team, every single team can stand to benefit from analyzing and adjusting their pregame routines. Focus on the skills that are actually utilized during gameplay and spend more time perfecting those. Pregame warmups are limited time, so learn how to make the most of it for your team.
